This Teacher is Sexualizing Education

This Teacher is Sexualizing Education

The topic of today is a shop teacher from Oakville Trafalgar High School. This is a teacher who is transitioning from a man to a woman and recently stirred up some controversy this school year because he has decided it would be a wonderful idea to wear very large fake breasts to a high school. As you can see, the breasts are designed to hang down to the teacher’s hips.

According to the Toronto Sun “The Halton District School Board is “standing behind” the “accepted” transgender teacher”. Halton’s mission is to “inspire every student to learn, grow, and succeed” and apparently they believe that male teachers with prosthetic breasts are the best way to do that.

As far as I can see, there are three glaring issues with this.

The first is that this is clearly sexually inappropriate. The school board and the teachers union take cases of sexual misconduct very seriously. A teacher is not only an authority figure but also one who is involved with children. Being sexual in front of children is massively inappropriate and, in this case, with children under 16 years old, treads dangerously close to pedophilia. If a female teacher walked into class with a sheer top where you could see her breasts, she would be disciplined for sexual misconduct. My point here is not that transgender is bad; do what you want on your own time. My point is this teacher is flaunting sexuality in front of children. Bringing prosthetic breasts into a classroom is no different than bringing a prosthetic vagina or a prosthetic penis.

Second, let’s talk about how much of a distraction this is for the students. As I mentioned earlier the Halton School Board’s mission is to “inspire every student to learn, grow, and succeed” How are you achieving that if all the students are distracted by their teacher’s sexual behavior? I think it would be very interesting to compare the test scores at Oakville Trafalgar this year vs last year.

Third, what message does this send to women about their bodies? The prosthetic breasts are unrealistically large. Since they are not realistic, the only thing that one could conclude is that this is meant to poke fun at women. Maybe women with small breasts? There are only two options here. They are either real and you are trying to be a woman OR They are unrealistic and you are making fun of women. You can’t be a woman with unrealistic features. By definition, that would be unrealistic. So to all the women in that school, the message they are hearing is that this teacher, the school, the schoolboard, and anyone else who supports this behavior doesn’t respect women (and possibly women with small breasts). For high school girls who are already struggling with self-confidence about their bodies, this is yet another obstacle in their way.

The tough part about this is that transgender individuals are a protected minority. Meaning that it’s going to be very difficult to fire or prosecute this person for sexual misconduct since the misconduct is related to their gender orientation.

What will happen now? My guess is that Halton will try to walk back their support for the teacher and attempt to take some neutral ground.

As for the teacher, unfortunately for this person, he’s likely already unwell. You wouldn’t usually expect someone of sound mind to conclude that walking into a high school with prosthetic breasts is a good idea. Most of us have the sense to know that hormone-raging children aren’t a great test audience for this type of thing. This is also likely to get much worse for him. The parental and media backlash will be heavy. I would expect that he’s likely to take mental health leave and be forced to early retirement. In other words, the Ontario taxpayers are going to be paying for him to go away.

That’s not fair you say? Of course not. Taxpayers should be paying for someone to bring their fetish into schools with children. Nor is it fair to the other teachers who work hard and have to wait until 65 for retirement.

The ideal outcome is that the Ontario school boards will wake up and realize that extremist views on the left are just as harmful as extremist views on the right.

Think about that.
